What is a hummingbird?

They belong to the avian family and are considered the closest relatives of the swifts.They are small enough and have only 2 to 20 grams weight with narrow bills and saber-like wings. The males have colorful gorgets with highly colored and reflective feathers on their throat and upper chest. Their shiny feathers around the head look black until the hummingbirds turn their head in the sun.
