SXM International Model Car Championships

The engines have been started and racers from around the world are running their cars at the St. Maarten Speedway on the Great Bay Promenade. The group is preparing for the second annual SXM International Model Car Championships June 22 to 28. The racers from as far away as Germany to Australia will practice Monday and Tuesday from 1:00 to 10:00pm. The first race is set for Wednesday at 5:00pm. The first race is the G12 class and will include several Friendly Island drivers. The faster Pro 27 group take to the track Wednesday at 7:00pm. Racing will continue Thursday and Saturday starting at 5:00pm. The super-fast cars run Saturday. Sunday the Pro G7’s will compete and the awards ceremony is set for 8:00pm
